The 5 Shifts – Part 2 – Mindset

Welcome back to part 2 of this five-part blog series called “The 5 Shifts”. I’m walking you through the 5 main shifts you need to make to get you on the road to the freedom lifestyle that you want.

In the last post, we talked about “Clarity” and why it’s so important to be 100% clear on what it is you want and more importantly WHY you want it.

If you’re just joining us on this journey I highly recommend you jump back to the last post and read/work through it before coming back here to pick back up!

Shift #2 is Mindset.

When it comes to looking at and dealing with your mindset you have to take responsibility for the pure fact that you are where you are and you have what you have because of who you are, and because of what’s going on inside your mind. This is the first step.

So the first thing I want you to think about is:

(if you’re working through the 5 Shifts with me through this blog series grab your notebook now and start writing this down and just take some time and really dig into this.)

  • What is your languaging like on a daily basis?
  • How many excuses are you making?
  • How often do you complain about things in your life or about other people?
  • What’s the negative self-talk like?
  • Do you feel fucking awesome when you look in the mirror naked?
  • Do you feel proud of yourself?
  • Do you feel full of confidence with a high self-worth when you go into anything?
  • Do you react often, do you get frustrated, do you have anxiety, do you get annoyed, do you constantly have little spikes of anger?

Those are all telltale signs of where your current mindset is.

  • Do you spend more time focused on the shit that you don’t have versus the stuff you do have or  the stuff that you want?
  • Do you spend time every day counting your wins showing gratitude focusing on how you’ve been able to impact one person, two persons or whatever it might be?

How much time are you devoting to that?

Let’s take a look at these two different perspectives:

The person who is focused on everything, that feels they already have abundance based on the fact that every day there are wins that they can take out of the day that their life is full of abundance and that there’s nothing that they can’t do.

Vs

The person thinking about how frustrating it was that they couldn’t pay this bill today, that so-and-so said this or this person said that to them and they made them feel a certain way.

  • Which one do you think will one lead you in the right direction?
  • Which one do you think feels better?

Just ask yourself that question because it’s so easy to fall into the “normal trap”.

When I say the normal trap I mean that “noise” that’s all around us from negative people, and the media looking for drama. It’s why I don’t listen to the radio and it’s why I don’t watch the news or read newspapers. I don’t listen to any of the drama that goes on because I don’t want to fill my head with that stuff.

I don’t want my focus to shift in that direction. Not even for a second.

That’s why when I do cardio I listen to audiobooks or if I’m really doing something hard I pump music up to get my energy up because I only want to focus on the stuff that makes me feel good. That’s in line with what’s most important to me.

If you spend enough time on the clarity side of things you’ll get really clear on what is most important to you. You’ll be really clear on what your highest values are because you’re very clear on what your “WHY” is. Remember what we discussed in the last blog (The 5 Shifts Part 1 – Clarity) we started with questions like – Why do you want those things you want? Why is it important to you?

For me, the most important thing is to be able to have the freedom to do what I want,  when I want and with who I want, and most the time that’s with my wife and my children.

Everything else is great and I get a level of fulfilment for it but that’s my highest value.

That’s my biggest – Why!

That and being able to help people on a consistent basis. Everything I do needs to be in line with that.

I really want you guys to take that onboard and own it, because what it does is it helps you to own your perspective and when you can own your perspective you can control your mindset and create exactly what you want using the languaging that you want and you can decide to do things from a proactive point of view rather than a reactive point of view.

I really hope you can understand that by controlling my perspective I can also control my outcomes but by spending my day in reaction mode who then is in control of my perspective? And who do you think I blame for it – everybody else!

In part 3 of this blog series I’ll be talking about one of the biggest reasons entrepreneurs are not succeeding at the level they want to be, and thats “Connection”, connection with your ideal client, your audience, the people around you, the people you’re attracting to you etc.

That’s what’s coming up in my next post, but if you’re already wanting to dive deeper into these 5 shifts and want to jump ahead you can grab my book – The Process of Being Me right here.

To make sure you see the next post as soon as it comes out join me and other entrepreneurs seeing the freedom lifestyle in my Facebook group where I post everything first, you can join here for free.
