Building Your Performance Mindset – Part 7 – The “Fuck It” Approach

Last but certainly not least in this blog series I explain the final piece of the puzzle to help you start Building Your Performance Mindset!

We’ve already covered some incredible things to help you make the shift you need in your own mind so that you can be successful in your business and personal life.

Previously in this blog series, we’ve talked about:

Part 1 – Conformity & Fear

Part 2 – Expectations & Assumptions

Part 3 – Positivity & Abundance

Part 4 – Creating Space As An Entrepreneur

Part 5 – Proactive Vs Reactive

Part 6  – Stories & Languaging

The “Fuck It” Approach

This last point and one that I love because it has a swear word in it 😉 shame, but this last one for me is huge!

When I look at really successful people and the approach that they take in almost any situation they’re in is what I call the “Fuck it” approach. They don’t sweat the small stuff and when they want to do something they just say – “let’s go do it!”

Let me give you an example of the “fuck it” approach that we chose to use recently:

We wanted to move house and we did it in a 24 hour period. Even though there was an application already in from another family for this house we cut in front of them and we left the other place where we still had a lease that we needed to get out of.

We still had a deposit that we were going to lose and I could have sat there bitching and moaning that I’m going to lose three and a half grand and that I had to spend another six and a half grand to secure this place. We could have been panicking saying things like –  “Oh my God where are we going to find it all, what are we going to do, this means we can’t afford to do this and blah blah blah.” That could have been my story, right?

But, literally within a ten minute period, I said – “fuck it let’s do it”. And we did it.

We literally started moving in the next day.

Every successful person I know at some point said: “fuck it”. They wanted to do something so they did it regardless of conformity, fear, assumptions, false expectations or ideals or any of those things that we’ve run through in this blog series.

At some point, they said fuck it and they did it and at some point, you’re going to have to do the same thing for yourself.

If you want a performance mindset, this has to be an attribute that you adopt because you have to learn to fail forward quickly. If you’ve never learned to fail forward quickly because all these other things are holding you back then sure you might eventually end up with a positive mindset but I guarantee you that things that are holding you back aren’t tied to a positive mindset.

Whereas somebody that does have a positive mindset that is willing to say fuck it from time to time and go for it, those are the ones that are going to have the performance based mindset. Those are the ones that will achieve success.

They’re going to put themselves out there regardless of rejection or failure or anything that could go wrong. They’re just going to do it and sometimes they’re just going to keep doing it until they achieve what they want and most times they are going to be stubborn as hell around it too.

A lot of entrepreneurs especially successful ones are very stubborn and they’re very obsessed because they know that’s what it takes right to really grab onto a vision. Grab the bull by its horns and ride it until you end up where you want to end up and if you don’t end up there you jump on the next bull and you ride that one until you end up where you want to end up right.

There is no alternative. There is no second choice and that’s the thing that so many of us never adopt. We never go; “You know what fuck it, fuck everything else that’s going on in my life -This is what I want. This is what I’m willing to do. I’m just going to go for it and allow myself the freedom to fail.”

Allow yourself the ability to learn through the process, to adapt, to create the proactive outcomes that you won by taking action not by sitting there and thinking about it.

If you’re thinking about it you’re not doing it. It’s no different than somebody who did it and never thought about it. They’re going to be better off because at least they’re doing it and they’re learning you’re sitting there still thinking about it.

Like I said, and like I always say, sometimes going back and listening to this is the best thing you could do for yourself because maybe you’ll pick up one or two things that you didn’t write down and if you feel this was beneficial please let me know.
